Returning now from the dark sub-continent…
Two bonuses to a simple thing like changing the weather over a battlefield:
- Firstly, it makes it more difficult for enemy archers to target you because it makes you harder to actually see.
- Secondly, it allows your forces to assault those enemy units in greater secrecy because, again, you are harder to see.
Granted, in a normal real-world scenario, this is alleviated by equal night-vision across friend and foe, as well as with modern night-vision technology, but here on Avbaroy, things are very different.
And the Drow, hailing from the Underdark, are some of the best night-time combatants in the world. In actuality, they have to be, because natural light seriously hurts their eyes, so there’s another bonus to the seasonal thunderstorm Rain has conjured up in that it allows them to spread to wherever they wish in the battlefield 24/7 rather than just at night.
