No matter how deep the walls, no matter how powerful the weaponry, or how deep the munition stores, each and every castle has a fundamental weakness: Its stomach.
This is sort of the warfare equivalent of “Don’t outrun the monster, outrun the slowest friend”. To defeat a castle, the simplest and easiest method is to just starve it. Even if the castle has its own farm, farms take time to produce crops, and can be easy targets for your siege weaponry. And if you isolate the castle, you can do a lot of damage to it simply by cutting it off from outside assistance. This is the strategy behind most prolonged sieges, eventually those in the castle either give up or starve to death or die of plague or injury.

Sildyu recognises this it seems, though with the supply situation almost critical it’d be difficult for her to ignore it as it has been the past couple days.

And it seems it is finally time to address the problem of the Citadel.

  2. Lex would be very old by now, wouldn’t he?
    Hmmm…

  3. Gremlin, we have SEEN Lex the Malign in this time period and he still appears relatively young.

That warfare tactic seems to utterly ignore teleportation, though. Igon made it clear at the start of Remember that the shield itself doesn’t block teleportation - that comes from a second device. And i think Lying mentioned earlier that reinforcements were being teleported in so i don’t see why they couldn’t do the same with supplies…

  4. But did Lex ever remember to tell that to his new friends?

  5. That “Hmmm…” was me considering it, not being all patronizish.
I wasn’t questioning your hope/theory–having read the same comic as you–only wondering about Lex’s youth.
