I’m actually surprised it took me this long to realise I put Optimus Prime in my webcomic.
If this feels like too much of a deus ex machina, recall the contents of page 58 that revealed Greatwise was in Fudgeland: He kills a sniper aimed right at Enko and Anthur. Consequently I don’t think it’s even a stretch to say he could have ran headlong at the big non-flying dragon in the distance, he has something of a grudge against unjust dragons after all.

But yes, the parallels between Greatwise and Optimus Prime are few, but distinct. They’re both very brave, they’re both towering robots, they’re both great leaders of their respective peoples, and they both use firey blades on their arms. Admittedly Greatwise would be hard-pressed to transform into a big red truck, especially in this situation, but the comparison sort of threw me when I realised I could have Greatwise say “One shall stand, one shall fall” and it would be absolutely perfect for him.

And whilst I’m hesitant to reference such a horrible movie series, I think right now he’d settle for “I’ll take you all on!”

  1. He might not be able to transform into a big red truck but he still seems able to hit like one.

  2. I don’t know if they said it in the new (live action plus cgi) movies, but I’m pretty sure “One shall stand, one shall fall” was originally in the Transformers animated movie which was pretty good.
