Go! Vindicate my squandered childhood!

If there’s ever a point where I’m asked by someone if the Pikalites aren’t a parody or homage to Pikachu of the Pokemon fame and I deny it, you all have full permission to boot me straight in the balls because that is a blatant lie. Their society is even a full-blown parody of the Japanese national stereotype, even though their canon historical origins are actually pretty serious and unique (first artificial intelligent life on Avbaroy, courtesy of you-know-where).

I actually recently got the chance to catch a more recent episode of the Pokemon cartoon, and whilst I can’t actually remember much of the older series that I adored in my distant youth, I was outraged at the abomination on my screen. It was atrocious, they’ve actually degenerated to the point where they’ve had to write a rival for Ash that is deliberately entirely dislikable and an absolute jerk. I’ve been a proponent of “The First 151″ for a long while, because things went quickly bizarre after that, but the more recent developments seems to confirm that unequivocally.

  1. I disagree, it’s after gold and silver that the whole thing goes downhill. With Gold and Silver they made a prudent expansion of the number of pokemon but the total number was not so high that they had to place some of the older ones out to pasture to make room for the new.

  2. Finally we get to see the yellow one in action!
Unfortunately, my 7 year-old duaghter is a Pokemon fanatic, what is confussing is that CITV insist on running two series in parallel, I never know which she is watching until the different side kicks appears!
