Quite a few saw this coming, to which I don’t really blame them. As I’ve said before, noble as Illel’s sacrifice is, as a character and a personage she is simply too much for the Order to assault.

So the obvious question is: Why would the Order be sent to assault her at all?

  1. Distraction and general pot shots so the dragons don’t pop up before too late and the resident badasses have a chance to influence the battle in the meantime?

  2. Quite simply because the people need a heroic group to rally behind instead of the enraged nigh-omnipotent slightly psychotic superbeings that are probably going to ACTUALLY finish the job.
