November 1, 2012
It’s been a while since I’ve done any kind of blog, so I figure I’d address the odd one or two things that have been going on around here.
Comics recently had a spurt of being on-time, though there isn’t one tonight (hence my making this blog post in its stead). I realised while making the current page that I’ve been making pages within that one specific room in the palace now for over a year, Sildyu having walked into the main hall and meeting the Order in October of 2011, which shook me for a bit since whilst I’ve always known Remember would take a while to do I don’t think I’ve ever taken so long in one location. Fortunately then there’s been the odd dip into other situations and circumstances, rather than solely focusing on the one encounter in the main hall, but that’s still pretty astounding to me.
For a while, I admit that I was starting to get bored with making comics. They’d stopped being a creative outlet and started being a formulaic pursuit of completion. I am very happy to report that such a state of affairs has totally left me now, I’m not making comics as regularly as I was a handful of weeks ago but I’m really enjoying making them. If you’re following the Twitters, you’ll likely have seen me tweet about being finally happy with a horn design I originally drew in 2009. I’m drawing slower, but what I am drawing I am generally and genuinely happy with the results of and I am glad to keep kicking my motivational decline in the rear end if it means I get to work on a comic. Psychologically, it is a good time for me to have Remember and all of its devoted Forgetfuls, because it is so much fun to be drawing and writing and I hope to all that has ever been considered holy that I don’t stop when the final shots are fired in this storyline.
And speaking of Forgetfuls, the youtube channel has somewhat exploded. It’s been almost a month now since the last Nether Expedition went up that was actually in the Nether (that would be episode 22, for those keeping track), and return to it has been delayed largely by university work as well as greatly more frequent updates to Minecraft impeding my ability to find any clue as to the whereabouts of Martyn and Walter, but within the last month alone the channel has gotten over 600 new subscribers, gaining 20-30 each day on average, often a lot more. A lot of them, I grant, probably due to association with some rather lovely fellows on a rather specific Tekkit server, and probably more than slightly due to the invasions of a certain cyborg swine zomble, but it’s definitely an interesting turn of events and I don’t doubt (at least from the webstats recently around here) that some of those subscribers are wandering around these ailing halls as well.
In which case, welcome! Make yourself at home, I recommend reading the archive if you want to be up to date on what’s happening in the comics (though I will shudder if you cite them specifically, such were my abilities in past years), and be sure to comment on your thoughts on what transpires both in elder times and in more recent pages. And be aware that when I use the term “Forgetfuls”, I include you as well, not just those who hang around here for the comics.
There was, as it happens, also some fanart of me recently, by one “BulletEater003″. Perhaps reflecting the times I happen to be muddling about in, it is of me as a pony ala the My Little Pony series of recent fame. If you have a DeviantArt account, by all means pop over and let BulletEater003 know what you think of the piece, I personally rather enjoy and I’m flattered that anyone would draw fanart of me at all.
On occasion I’ve contemplated drawing the odd bit of bonus art (a term used simply for convenience here, since “fan art” rather explicitly means not-by-me) for Remember, but I think with the almost 1500 people that have visited Remember this past month I’m probably far less capable of it than some of the Forgetfuls around, wink wink
Right, that’s all this eve, I hope you’ve all had a fun Halloween. I’ve spent mine sitting inside with youtube videos playing and working cheerily on this upcoming page, you’ll likely see the results of my artistic flailings before the end of the week. Until then, keep being awesome, it is a very cool time to stick around!
