The proclamation.

At least in England, our royal family has a very carefully-scrutinised family tree. Sildyu’s however is a bit more sparse, owing largely to the backstabbing that’s gone on for generations in it (her father’s family are little better, having been largely executed in order of crown-bearing relevance by her mother). This leaves no clear heir for the Empire, and the closest thing to such is the High Lieutenants, most of whom have been killed or forced to flee in the course of this battle.

Thus leaving Spire the hierarchical authority to make this announcement. It’s taken over 200 pages and the better part of 3 years, but at last we have the surrender.

  1. Yeah but typically you’ll have some nutcase who tries to take over and rule the land in name of the falling leader
