A lot of hot air going around this room.
Lex does hit on a fairly significant point here, if only tangentially: Do the ends justify the means?
Lying has said before (in his conversation with Ardonius) that he believes that civilisation turns into chaos whenever it’s presented with an anticlimax, and to a degree he’s correct. The Roman Empire for example collapsed and left most of Europe to the madness of the dark ages. Now, many many people have died in Merinas for the purpose of creating a distraction for the palace dragons and, apparently, to cover the kidnapping of Lex.
It remains to be seen exactly what purpose Lying weighed for this methodology to be worthwhile.
